Thick hardy stalks will hold the bright red cone that attracts butterflies and people who find the plant exotic and irresistible to look at. Known for it medicinal thick sap within the cones used in hair and skin products. Once cones are brown and dried there are seeds for new plantings.  Make a very nice tropical houseplant in a large planter as the plant can get up to 4- 6 ft tall. Apartment dwellers have grown the plant large enough to have a “natural” window shade. The Ginger is an easy-to-grow pass-along plant that will make a large clump from a single rhizome in a couple of years. It grows easily, provided sufficient moisture and fertile, organic soil. Light: Full sun to partial shade Moisture: Regular moisture, drought tolerant, but grows best with regular waterings.
