Orange bird of paradise grows in a clumping form with thick, gray-green leaves on graceful, upright stems. Stunning tropical iconic flowers.
It makes an outstanding tropical accent, working well in formal landscapes or more casual designs. This showy plant should be used as a focal point in the landscape, where it can show off its unusual form and beauty. Full hot sun plant that needs moderate waterings and to be fed every 3 months. They can be grown in office buildings and homes which can hold large planters. Our plants are babies and it will take 1 year to bloom. It will double its size by then. The plants do best in Zone 10-12, can not take freezes, but can be container-grown in and moved indoors when cold snaps hit. Keep in temps78+ full hot sun. They are showy  and in 5 years top about 4 to 6 feet tall and wide. Are considered deer-resistant (though we make no promises). We do not use chemicals or pesticides in our gardens located in South Florida.
